External Access

Post by Uthall » Sat Oct 27, 2018 11:28 am

Hi,

I want to enable external access, but im concerned that doing so will put my NAS at risk.

How safe is allowing username/password access to tvmosaic, and is there recommended ways of making access super secure?

Thanks
Jeff

Would not recommend to use remote access at this moment in time... From remote, TVMosaic is now way to vulnerable for a fased hack.. with that it uses plain passwords on http, maybe a bit hashed on an app, but no decent vorm of security in sight.

To make in independent secure you could try connecting to VPN server on your nas, not sure if the overhead gets to big for a decent signal though, never tried it.

There's definite a need for certificate for https support, and would also like some kind of 2-step verification as well with autoblock multiple failed login attempts.

Think I am going to try VPN, to much work for waiting on a solution from TV Mosaic (although they're known for some magic :D )
