Can anyone play .TS files on a UHD 4K TV?

Post by gadgetgaz » Tue Nov 26, 2019 12:03 pm

I'm desperately trying to get to the bottom of this issue where the .TS files recorded from certain channels on live TV cannot be played properly on 4K televisions without having black, full screen interruptions in the played back video.

I've reproduced the issue on three separate 4K TVs.

Can anyone help please? Anyone?

I don't have a 4k TV, so I am wondering: does it play normal on a non 4k TV? I am happy to test for you if you like

These recordings play just fine on everything except 4K Tvs (at least the 3 4K TVs i tried them on).
If I upscale them (from 1080 to 4K) manually then they play fine on the 4K TV so the issue is something to do with these particular files when they are upscaled on the TVs own hardware.

Weird... you would think this is not an issue. And you seem to have everything you need to test.

I just want to boost this post and ask a simple question to help me narrow this down since the guys at dvblink say they can't even reproduce the issue which is strange since I can on three different 4K TVs by Philips, Sony and Panasonic.

Please answer with a simple YES if you are in the UK and CAN watch the recorded TV programs from HD channels on a 4K UHD TV using a video player that is running on the TV itself (i.e. not from a device connected to the tv via hdmi) not using transcoding without any issues (black screen interruptions lasting about half a second).
Many thanks, really appreciate your help.
