Live TV crashes

Post by Plantje » Sun Nov 17, 2019 12:47 pm

Just installed a new HD Homerun Expand tuner. I wanted to use it to replace my old HD Homerun Connect and two FloppyDTV tuners. However, I have enabled the HD Homerun Connect as well. 6 tuners... would be nice... Now, everything seemed to be going fairly ok. I can use the tuners just fine. They also work on encrypted channels, so the NewCS and DVBJCam configuration is ok as well.

However, every time I am running 3 or more streams at a time, at some point all streams freeze and then everything stops.

I have added the most recent log.

Any idea on what is going on here?

Try 3 or more FTA streams, to see if it is your Newcs/dvbjcam config, causing the trouble.
DVBLink server 6.0.0 build14499, DVBLink TVSource 6.0.0 build14061, DVBLink for IPTV build 13107
TVMosaic server build 17679, Kodi 18.4 (Git:20190831-3ade758ceb), Win10 Pro x64 1909 build18363.476

Thought about that and thought I did.... Where can I find a list of FTA channels for Ziggo?

Just did a test: 6 FTA streams on 6 different tuners are running just fine for minutes and minutes!

Then I switched for some of them to encrypted and after doing 3 encrypted at the same time everything froze up again.

The thing is: with encrypted I was using full HD whereas with non encrypted I was using 1 full HD channel and 5 SD. So, I was still recording one FTA HD channel and added 2 SD encrypted ones... seemed to be going fine. Then I wanted to add a third encrypted one, but before that one got started, the other ones were frozen again... :(

So, it definitely seems to be something in the decryption. But what?

It's a known problem with dvbjcam, you could try to add audisabled=1 to every tuners plugin folder libdvbjcam.readers:

libdvbjcam.readers
[reader]
xxx
xxx
audisabled = 1

with that setting it better, but still crashes a few times.

Applied the change and did some quick testing. At first sight it doesn't seem to be helping. What I did notice: on the moment the streams freeze, it looks like the CPU load is 100%. Perhaps it stops decrypting at that point.
I will do some more testing without stressing the server and only running streams from other clients. But not today... today is Saturday, that means a lot of stuff with the kids :)

So with FTA channels there is no problem as I expected.

The answer to your problem I already described long long time ago on Kodi.nl forum in topic, you also are participating in.

Nothing wrong with DVBJCAM, it can easily handle 8 encrypted DVB-C streams from my quad DVB-C tuner for viewing/recording purposes and even have card updates, while processing those 8 encrypted channels.

Don't leave me hanging then.... 😁
What is the answer?

Edit: found it... I will look a little bit further into what you are explaining there and then from there try to see if it is fixed. If so, I will also include it in the manual that I created (and share at times)
If fixed, I will also share it here. For now, I will continue on the Dutch forum.
