Server Error [E] Error. Received SIGSEGV: Segmentation Violation.

Post by HAL2001 » Fri Nov 09, 2018 11:11 am

Hi forum,

During nighttime the tvmosaic_server seems to have crashed which crashed the client as well.
No [user] action lead to this.
Problem is: Despite the server being restartable (and confirmed running with isrun.sh) the client freezes on startup.
I suspect something like a cache file been corrupted during crash or something but don't have a clue what to try.
Any ideas?

System: MacMini, MacOS 10.13.6 (High Sierra)
tvmosaic_server info: TV Mosaic, 1.0.0, 16709

Code: Select all

2018-Nov-09 02:36:34: [E] Error. Received SIGSEGV: Segmentation Violation.
Edit: I have installed the latest update and client fires up…

Case closed for now. –> Unfortunately not fully.
Please have someone a look into the log excerpt and shed light on the meaning of "error 6"?
Note: The client works now, but will it stay up reliably?

Code: Select all

Same problem here; Error. Received SIGSEGV: Segmentation Violation.
Running 16829 on MacMini (macOS Mojave). Sometimes it runs for a while, but never for more than a few days. Please fix this cause it’s really annoying. Just switched to mosaic from dvblink because it being discontinued. Dvblink wasn’t perfect, but at least it didn’t crash every other day.
@hal2001: how do i restart the server? I reboot now, because i don’t know the proper terminal command to restart the server.

If i remember correctly:
To stop/start TVMosaic you can use a manual method of starting command line prompt, navigate to TVMosaic installation folder

Code: Select all

    cd /Applications/TVMosaic/Contents/tvmosaic
and execute stop:

Code: Select all

   sudo ./stop.sh
and to start:

Code: Select all

    sudo ./start2.sh

Hi the-man. A ticket on this issue was created on dvblink.freshdesk about 5 months ago. I discussed the issue with Dmytro Paliy, and through some testing we found that it has something to do with the mac going to sleep. However, no solution has been provided up until now. I wouldn’t go as far to say the product is useless, but it’s pretty annoying having to restart the server everyday. Especially since it runs on mac without a keyboard. Is there any effort on this issue, or should i just go back to using the (by now probably unsupported) dvblink-server-client setup?

@the-man/@oberon,
Hi, I haven’t used tvmosaic for a while because of this ‘sleep-issue’ I’m having. I just installed the latest version now, but the problem unfornately still exists (or so it seems).
The problem i have now is that the commands you gave me to restart the server from Terminal no longer seem to work. As a matter of fact the ..../contents/tvmosaic directory isn’t there anymore. I can’t find the start and stop script.
So how can i restart the server from Terminal after a crash?
Thanks

Edit: nevermind, i found them in /Library/application support
