TV Mosaic and remote SATIP Server?

Post by lakdjwln43 » Thu Dec 06, 2018 4:31 am

Hi is it possible to get the following configuration working?
remotesatip.PNG
remotesatip.PNG (50.74 KiB) Viewed 1405 times
Option A - VPN
I suppose this would work off the bat right?
A: TVMosaic + VPN client
B: Portforward VPN
C: PiVPN (http://www.pivpn.io/)
Option B - SSH tunnel
A:TV Mosaic + SATIP Proxy pointing to D (https://github.com/alexte/sat-ip-proxy)
B: Portforward SSH
C: SSH Server + IPTABLES????

Any idea if Option B would work? Thanks.

Note that TVMosaic is a split architecture and uses a server and a client. The TVMosaic server talks to SATIP server (as a client), and you have a TVMosaic client to connect to TVMosiac server to watch TV. It is not clear if your Raspberry Pi is acting as your TVMosaic sevrver, but assume it is the case.

If so then this set up works quite well over internet. However you need to be aware that many braodband technologies have a very low up speed (<1Mbps) compared to their down speed. TVMosiac can easily use more than 1Mbps, especially for HD. Therefore to watch over internet with limited bandwidth you should watch on SD channels and you may need to enable transcoding and limit bandwidth and resolution to 384kbps, otherwise your video will freeze.

You will need to configure your broadband router to allow incoming connection to the TVMosaic ports
