Watch while recording

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to successfully 'catch up' watching a program while it is still recording? I don't know what I am doing wrong, or if it is an issue that needs fixing.

If I go to my recordings and start playback of a show that is still recording, it works fine up until a certain point. The only way to continue watching is to go back and start playback again, then find the right place in the stream. It looks like playback only works up to where the end of the file is at the time when you start playback.

Does it depend on the client? This is using Apple TV. Would it work if I didn't skip through the ads?

I would also like to know how to do this.
It is a common situation to start watching later while still recording (to avoid commercial watching)
What would be perfect is the option in the guide to start watching from beginning if a recording is running on the particular show.

Long shot but I wonder if you enable Live TV timeshift if this provides the functionality you are missing ?

If you go to the TV Mosaic web console under dnla settings (change IP to match your setup, port number remains the same) and tick bottom box.

Yes I have. Yet how does this help me in the AppleTV client?

Well i did say it was a long shot .... :-)

I can’t comment directly on your Apple TV setup - I’m using a Kodi based front end.

Again a long shot, but with my Kodi setup i had to download and install a DVB Link/TVMosaic sourced client (called DVBLink PVR Client). Do you need to do the similar for Apple TV ?

The Kodi PVR Client has a configure option and therein under “stream” there was, by default unticked an option to enable time shift. I wonder if you may have a similar option ?

If not i would suggest that you raise a support ticket (via email) direct with DVB link to query - there appears to be an absence of Company representatives hereabouts lately and this is likely to lead to a faster resolution.

Does anyone know if this issue has been fixed yet? Its the only thing stopping me from switching to TV Mosaic as I watch in progress shows all the time.

It is a much missed and needed feature that I have asked for many years ago. It was said back then that it was a feature they would implement in time......

If you stumble upon this post when google searching (like me now), it still isnt implemented. But there is a workaround. Kodi has this feature build in. So if you install the tv mosaic plugin on Kodi, you can watch shows while recording. Using the same backend. So that leaves me to think the tv mosaic team doesnt want it.....

It is the same problem for me when using the TVMosaic app on iPad, iMac or Apple TV 4K as a client.
TVMosaic + is running on a Sysnology NAS DS716+II.
It works fine when I use a KODI on a Raspberry Pi 3B as a client.
So ist looks like there is a Problem in the TVMosaic client.
