Upgrade to TVMosaic - a couple of practical questions

Post by t33j4y » Mon Jun 25, 2018 11:36 am

I am getting ready to upgrade my existing DVBLink setup:

MacMini running DVBLink TVSource and TVAdviser
HDHomeRun tuner
iOS + tvOS clients (iPhones and ATV4)
Usage is mostly recording and viewing recordings.

A couple of practical questions:

1. Will the existing DVBLink setup cease to function once I upgrade the licenses in the portal?
2. Will the upgrade be an actual upgrade that is handled within the existing software install, or will I have to reinstall and reconfigure everything?
3. Anything else I need to be aware of - any gotchas when considering my quite simple setup?

Thanks in advance for help and insight

When you upgrade, your existing DVBLink license will be substituted by TVMosaic Plus license. Although the software itself will remain functional (at least until the license is invalidated by your system change). In any case, it is not recommended to run both at the same time.

Since TVMosaic is different from DVBLink, you cannot just upgrade. The migration procedure is described here:

I have now transitioned to TV-Mosaic.

Maybe it's just because I haven't scanned channels in a while, but it seemed like TV-Mosaic was faster at scanning.

Other than that, the only noteworthy thing was that the migration of the recordings was less smooth than expected (nothing that a number of db repairs, restarts of TV-Mosaic and the Mac Mini didn't fix), everything went fine.
