Apple TV stutters

Post by AlainTesla » Thu Jun 07, 2018 11:24 am

Hi,

When watching Live and or Recorded TV on the Apple TV4, there is a lot of stutter. Especially when there is camera panning. Sport programs like Formula 1 is barely watchable.

DVBlink was running smooth with the same config on my dedicated TV server (I upgraded to TV Mosaic).

Does anyone else have this problem or is it some setting I need to change?

Regards,
Alain

Is your Live TV 50Hz (European broadcast standard) or 60Hz (US broadcast standard) ?

Try to set your Apple TV video settings to the appropriate standard (like 1080p SDR 50Hz or 60Hz) and test if stutter is still present.

Thanks for the suggestion! But unfortunately that was the first thing I thought about (I have 50hz here in The Netherlands). But My apple TV was already at 1080p@50. I even changed it to 1080p@60 but the problem was still the same. I know the 50->60 judder and what it looks like. But this stutter I have is even worse.

When you set your Apple TV to 1080p 50Hz and have set "beeldsnelheid aanpassen" to "uit", does it still stutter ?

Some other info what could be interesting to know:
1) What do you have as TVMosaic source, DVB-C or IPTV
2) Is your Apple TV on a wired connection or Wifi
3) Build number of TVMosaic server and Apple TV app

As a separate test, you can try MrMC on the Apple TV and use the TVMosaic PVR inside it, to check if it is TVMosaic server or the TVMosaic Apple TV app, that causes the stutter.

Maybe you could provide @Oberon some logs, so he can investigate the TVMosaic communication between your Apple TV and TVMosaic server.

It was already on Off, changing it to On didn't solve it or changed it.

DVB-C

WiFi, playing Live TV through an Macbook next to the AppleTV work perfectly.
Also it is the same setup as I had with DBVlink which worked fine. I just update it to TV Mosaic and than the stutter came. So it is not WiFi related.

3) Build number of TVMosaic server and Apple TV app
TV Server: Version: 1.0.0 Build: 16285
Apple TV: latest available app version

I installed MrMC Lite, I can enable the TV Mosaic add-on, but than I don't see the add-on anywhere. Probably a limitation of the Lite version?

What logs are needed? Apple TV or the TV server?

Please, record via TVMosaic server (it will be a ts file ) a few minutes of such a a channel where issues is played back and share it with us via any filesharing system.

I don't have any experience with the "Lite" version of MrMC, but in the Full version, after you have enabled the TVMosaic PVR client and configured it, you have to place a checkmark in the following settings to enable TV from PVR clients in MrMC:

Settings/TV/General >>> checkmark "enable"

After that, in MrMC Home Screen you will find a TV button (and Radio when you have Radio channels).
DVBLink server 6.0.0 build14499, DVBLink TVSource 6.0.0 build14061, DVBLink for IPTV build 13107

I have just tested this file. It works well with all TVMosaic apps on all iOS devices (iphone/pad/ATV4)
Also i see that there is a general audio codecs, so with this also should not be any issues.
