Log file preservation

Post by BartZorn » Fri Aug 31, 2018 10:31 pm

It appears that TVmosaic, when it starts up, deletes any existing old log files, before creating new ones.

This is a rather crude way of doing things. In my case, it seriously stands in the way solving problems.

So please, in stead of deleting old log files, rename them to something useful, for instance with a date/time stamp.

Next, optionally, provide a mechanism to limit the maximum number of files, or an expiration time.

Kodi does it and I was unpleasantly surprised to find out that TVmosaic does not.

Regards,

Bart

No response yet.

Tonight it happened again. We were watching one channel and (of course at a crucial moment in the show) another channel was supposed to start recording. Kodi froze. I killed Kodi and started it again. No response from TVmosaic. The show must go on, other members of my household were breathing in my neck. So I rebooted the system. We missed the crucial moment but it works again.

But the log file, which could provide more information, was gone too.

How do I report this problem to DVBlogic?

Bart.
