Really low and bad sound quality when transcoding is enable

Post by wazer » Tue Sep 18, 2018 5:26 pm

So I notice that watching different things, I used to watch without transcoding or on another software, the voices and sounds was really bad, figured out it starts when enabling transcoding in tvm, does not matter if its x264 or h264..

Related to this, are we getting x265/h265 support?

h265 is already supported.
Regarding your issue, please provide more details - which system, which stream, is hw acceleration is used etc.

I dont see any h265 there? why no x265/software

http://prntscr.com/l1h8m9

System is Windows 10 x64 v1809

TVM 16582

Ryzen 1700x
16gb 3600mhz
1070 8gb
2tb nvme ssd
500/500mbit wan.

I'm using the "software" since hardware is bad quality compared to using cpu, my cpu can handle it fine.

Does not matter what stream, I'm using my HDHomeRun EXPAND to grab streams from the coax output on the fiber tv box, where we get all channels in 1080 or 4k quality.

You do not see h265 there, because TVMosaic uses h264 as a video destination format when transcoding. It is de-facto most widely used and supported. However, if your video comes in as h265 and your hardware is capable fo decoding it, it will be decoded in hw.

Further, I suggest that you read our Wiki regarding transcoding and quality:
https://wiki.tv-mosaic.com/index.php/Transcoding

In general, Intel-based hw encoders require higher bitrate setting to produce picture of the reasonable quality, comparing to sw encoders.

I know hw encoders need higher bitrate than using cpu.

but the issue about sound quality getting really low when encoded?
