Get DVB-S Tuner running on Asustor

Post by PerfectStranger » Sat Jun 02, 2018 8:53 pm

Hi!.
I'm Looking for tutorial/guide how to enable my TechnoTrend TT-connect S2-3650 CI on my AS6210T (to install TV mosaic or something else).
Can't find anything on the web.

It is not possible unless you build the v4l drivers yourself.
The best option to get dvb-s on that type of NAS would be to use a sat>ip network tuner.

Exactly this kind of Guideline (build v4l) is what I'm looking for and User Vlada made this.

It is a complex task for experienced developers.

Roughly, you need to do the following:

- Obtain cross-compiler (I beleive that you can use the one from ADM2.0 for your x86_64 builds: https://sourceforge.net/projects/asgpl/ ... Toolchain/).
- Download linux kernel sources for your ADM version:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/asgpl/files/
- extract kernel files somewhere on your disk:

Code: Select all

tar -xjvf GPL_linux-4.4.24.tar.bz2
- put linux-4.4.24-x86_64.config as .config into linux forlder
- build kernel sources:

Code: Select all

ARCH=x86_64 CROSS_COMPILE=<path to your cross compiler>/bin/x86_64-linux-gnu-" make oldconfig
ARCH=x86_64 CROSS_COMPILE=<path to your cross compiler>/bin/x86_64-linux-gnu-" make
- Download v4l tree:
(general description is available here: https://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/ ... ce_Drivers)

Code: Select all

git clone git://linuxtv.org/media_build.git
cd media_build
ARCH=x86_64 CROSS_COMPILE=<path to your cross compiler>/bin/x86_64-linux-gnu-" DIR=<path to linux kernel> make release
ARCH=x86_64 CROSS_COMPILE=<path to your cross compiler>/bin/x86_64-linux-gnu-" DIR=<path to linux kernel> make prepare
ARCH=x86_64 CROSS_COMPILE=<path to your cross compiler>/bin/x86_64-linux-gnu-" DIR=<path to linux kernel> make
Then you need to find the actual drivers for your CT3650CI and their dependendecies. Once you have them, you woul dneed to load them manually in a script.
Also, I do not remember if ASUSTOR has firmware load functionality built into kernel or it needs a separate loader.
But, if you get to this point, we will help youy further.

(sorry for the discuraging post)

Thanks!
At the Moment I'm not sure if I'm encouraged enough to try this at my productive NAS with all of my data on it....

May be useful, tip from TVMosaic user: in order to get third party tuners working, need to install the Media Pack and the LockGood app because it contains the drivers for the USB tuner
